FIA 8856-2000 is the compulsory standard for racewear if you are driving in MSA racing, rallying or speed events (hill climbs and sprints). It is highly recommended for all other forms of motor sport except kart racing. Look for the logo on the collar

Suits to FIA 8856-2000 are flame retardant - nothing is "flameproof"! They are designed to protect you from the heat of a fire while marshals rescue you. Have a look at the Knowledge Base article covering this subject if you need more information.
