Racing to record figures

Britain's on-line racewear specialists are a good news story amid the gloom
Amid daily doses of gloom from the media, it's unusual to hear of a company expanding - but that's just the case with on-line racewear specialists racewear.co.uk. Run by husband-and-wife team Max and Sarah Tyler the www.racewear.co.uk web site sells motor racing clothing from offices near the picturesque National Trust village of Lacock in Wiltshire."We recently exhibited at the Autosports International exhibition, where we shook hands on a deal to be sole suppliers to a large part of the stock car racing fraternity," says Max. "And just as exciting was that we were approached by a new distributor from the Czech Republic who has already placed their first order with us."
"We're importing from suppliers in Europe and around the world and using the web and our retail shop to bring quality racing equipment to drivers at all levels of the sport."
But the pair are not resting on their laurels and have signed up Impress Media from Westbury to develop the next generation of the racewear.co.uk web site. "Working with local professionals is important to us," says Sarah. "Although we are web-based we're very proud of our Wiltshire heritage."
The company's plans have impressed Business Link to the extent that they have agreed to a grant towards the cost of the web development. "The plan is to fully integrate the web site into the accounting process so we can spend more time helping customers."
